Welcome to our site! We're going to chronicle the progress and history of my Dad's
1958 Chevrolet Impala, from the time he bought his first one in 1957, to the ongoing restoration that continues today on his
current one.
Here's a photo of my Dad in late 1957 with his first Impala, it was silver blue with a snowcrest white
roof
He traded in that car in 1960,
but in 1977 he had the opportunity to purchase another one, this time a cay coral one. It was in good condition, but
it had been partially repainted in the bel air two tone look. It also needed another engine block, which he and his
Dad installed in 1980.
The
interior was just in good, not great condition, and the wiring needed work, so in 1999, 21 years after he bought the car,
he decided to start the ground up restoration himself.
First,
he gutted the interior, and prepared the car for blasting
